Some Kelvin engine pictures, #1

I thought it would be helpful to post some pictures of some of the Kelvin re-build which took place, as it's always useful to have access to images of various engine parts:

In its original form, upon arrival at home

Upper parts of the top-end now removed, making heads accessible

Cylinder head platform

Magneto and starter motor all removed

Petrol starting chamber, with lift valve

Kelvin J series "spares" leaflet ...

I find this booklet from Kelvin to be the most useful reference point, so some of the images below might be helpful to other J series owners ...

Some favourites ...

Here are some of my favourite photographs from the build, of some of the various people involved:

Tony Bate has just completed the main section of the counter ...

And here's Tony again working on the portholes ...

And here's Graham checking the size of the portholes ...

And on those 'damn' wooden handrails ...

And here's Glyn on the handrails again, and the fake portholes ...

And what a team at Norton Canes ...

And here's a couple of Dick Goble, who has been such a help with the engine ...

And here he deserves a minute with a cup of tea ...

And here's Rob working on the final cabin finish ...
